ELF 100 Eyeshadow Palette Review

I have been eyeing this palette ever since eyeslipsface released it on its site a year or two ago. So when I came across it at Target for $10, I was very, very excited! I figured that even if half of the eyeshadows are crap, that's still 50 eyeshadows that work.
Much to my surprise, nearly all 100 eyeshadows are amazing! I took swatches (which, unfortunately, do the colors no justice) and also made a chart of the types of eyeshadows in the palette. (See below.)

Tip Tuesday #5

Hey everyone! Its Tip Tuesday #5! Haven't made one of these in a long time! This week I have 6 tips to share with you! (: Hope you enjoy this video.
You can watch it here:

Tip #1 - Before sharpening your eyeliner or lip pencil, place it in the freezer for around 10 minutes. They will harden slightly and won’t break when sharpened.

Tip #2 - Can’t find your blush? Substitute pink or red lipsticks as you blush.
Tip #3 - Old Toothbrush? Use it as a scrub to clean pencil sharpeners.
Tip #4 - Do you have static-y hair? Use dryer sheets to rub down you hair, it’ll leave it smelling great and smooth.
Tip #5 - Too much blush? Correct it by applying powder to a blending wedge and blending it in over the color to lighten it.
Tip #6 - Keep getting clumps on your lashes? Wipe off excess mascara from your mascara wand with a tissue before using it to prevent clumps on your lashes.

So did you learn anything? Hope you try these tips out!
Thanks for watching!

Nail of the Day: Colorblock

Hey everyone! I've been so MIA lately! But here's a Nail of the Day Post!

Today's Nail of the Day is Color block nails! I used the colors Light Pink, Light Red, and Plum by E.L.F Cosmetics. These nail polishes are great, because they are only a 1$ each! I was inspired to paint my nails like this after watching sarahbelle93x's tutorial on Color Block Nails. Its a super easy to do and is really cute for fall and winter.

I used 2 coats of the Light Pink, 1 coat of the Light Red, and 1 coat of the Plum. I took this picture with natural lighting.

Color-combo!
(Left to Right) Light Pink, Light Red, Plum

Do you like this nail design? Let me know if you try this out!

BACK TO SCHOOL: 12th Grade / Senior Year

Schedule:
  • First semester: Civics and Economics (A/A), Honors World History (A/A), AP English Literature (A/A), Orchestra (A/A), AP Chinese (A/A), PSYCH101 at a community college (A)
  • Second semester: Aerobics (A/A), AP World History (A/A), British Literature (A/A), Orchestra (A/A), AP Chinese (A/A)
    • Honors World History was linked with AP World History
    • British Literature was linked with AP English Literature
    • PSYCH101 = Introduction to Psychology
    • Total APs: 3 + 1 college class
Test Scores:
  • AP English Literature = 5
  • AP Chinese = 5
  • AP World History = 3 (I stopped studying for this class after applying to Berkeley. :( Don't get senioritis like me!)
    Tips to doing well academically:
    1. Even though this is your senior year, THIS IS NOT A TIME TO SLACK. Until you receive a "congratulations, you've been accepted to..." email, you cannot give in to senioritis. Even after that, don't let your grades drop below a B or those years of hard work might end up down the drain.
    2. This is where being close to your counselors and teachers comes in handy: ask them for letters of recommendation! If you're not sure about your college apps, ask your counselor! Ask your English teachers to take a look at your college essays.
    3. There will be deadlines for EVERYTHING. Make a list, write them on a calendar, tattoo them to your forehead, anything so you don't forget. Stay ahead of the game; problems always occur on deadline days.
    4. Keep an organized file of your: high school transcipts, test scores, letters of rec, essays, college apps, other requested info, etc.
    5. Print out the application (even if it's electronic) so you can practice filling in everything. This was really helpful for me because it helped prevent errors and allowed me to figure out what I needed before I sat down to fill out my apps.
    6. Have your parents prepare their income tax statements ASAP. You need this for financial aid.
    7. Make sure your apps were received.
    8. Look for scholarships!!!
    9. After you receive all of your acceptance letters (congrats!), decide on the college you will be attending. Visit colleges if you have to.
    10. Send in your tuition deposit and letter of intent to register. You're also supposed to let other colleges that have accepted you that you've chosen another college... but I don't think you have to (I didn't heh).
    11. Request for a final copy of your transcript be sent to your college.
    12. CONGRATS YOU FINISHED HIGH SCHOOL! :)
    Tips to doing well socially:
    • Don't ditch school, even after you've been accepted to colleges. This is both academically and socially damaging! Unless all of your friends are ditching too... but then you shouldn't be with these people! xD
    • Help younger students! Remember when you befriended upperclassmen and they helped you out? Time to return the favor.
    • Make an effort to look good because you'll feel good too! :) Seniors tend to get lazy and come to class looking like they just got out of bed.
    • If you do get a boyfriend this year, talk to him about the future. Will you break it off when you go off to college? Will you try a long-distance relationship? Most people break up, but there are also those who try to stay together.
    • Hang out with your friends and family, and treasure your time with them! Time is ticking away!
Do you have any tips for high school seniors? :) Let us know!

BACK TO SCHOOL: 11th Grade / Junior Year

    Schedule:
    • First semester: AP English Language (A/A), AP Art History (A/A), AP Physics C: Mechanics (C/B), Honors American Literature (A/A), Chinese 4 (A/A) (no orchestra!!)
    • Second semester: AP Physics B (B/B), AP US History (A/A), AP Calculus BC (A/A), Orchestra (A/A), Chinese 4 (A/A)
      • Honors American Literature was linked with AP US History
      • Total APs: 6
    Test Scores:
      • SAT = 2200 (only took this once) (Math: 700, Reading: 760, Writing: 740)
      • PSAT = 221 (I think? I was a national merit finalist.)
      • SAT II Math (took this three times lol and never studied OTL STUDY FOR SAT IIs!!) = 650, 690, 650
      • SAT II Chinese = 790
      • SAT II Literature = 760
      • AP English Language = 5
      • AP Art History = 4
      • AP Physics C: Mechanics = 3
      • AP Physics B = 3
      • AP US History = 4
      • AP Calculus BC = 5
    Tips to doing well academically:
    1. Work hard to maintain a high grade point average. Don't rely on a weighted GPA--try to get A's in AP classes too!
    2. Try to take two or more AP classes (or self-study). TAKE YOUR AP TESTS!
    3. In terms of AP classes, quality over quantity. As you can see by my sucky physics grades/scores, I take two too many AP physics classes lol.
    4. Make sure you're taking at least one English and one math class (and science/other if you need it). Take harder classes in the subjects you're interested in (I love English and I hate science, so I was definitely done with science after this year but I took all the AP humanities classes I could).
    5. Plan to take the SAT this year. Study the summer before junior year with prepbooks or a prep class. This will also help you do well on the PSAT (which you should also take). If you don't do well on the SAT, study harder and retake it! I recommend taking it up to 3 times *if needed.
    6. Visit colleges that you believe you will be applying to next year. Keep information about the universities that interest you, and research, research, research!
    7. Let your counselor and parents know how you're doing!
    8. Make friends with teachers (especially in the classes you like/do well in). This shouldn't be forced; don't be a suck-up. They're great people to talk to about academic problems and questions, as well as personal problems. Many of them are very caring about their students!
    9. Assume higher leadership roles in the clubs/organizations you're in. Continue volunteering.
    10. If you're not going to study over the summer before senior year, try and find something useful to do. Intern, get a job to make money for college, volunteer, visit colleges, anything PRODUCTIVE!
    11. Begin looking at college apps in the summer before senior year.
    Tips to doing well socially:
    • People usually start partying around this year. DON'T. DO NOT.
    • Maintain your friendships and continue making more in your new classes!
    • Feel free to experiment a bit more with makeup.
    • Continue developing your style. :)
    • Junior year is way too stressful of a year for you to maintain friendships, schoolwork, extracurriculars AND a boyfriend. I wouldn't recommend having one this year. I've seen girls fail classes and lose friends because they'd rather spend time hanging out with their boyfriends. Don't let that be you!
REMEMBER: Junior year grades/scores are very important!

BUT MOST OF ALL: KEEP CALM AND CARRY ON! This is a really stressful year for many people (myself especially. I gained at least 10-15 pounds around AP testing time, even while working out every single day!), so make sure you only take on what you know you can handle. At the same time, challenge yourself in subjects you love! I hated junior year so much (worst year of high school!!!!) but, reflecting back on it now, I'm glad I challenged myself like that.

Do you have any tips for high school juniors? :) Let us know!

BACK TO SCHOOL: 10th Grade / Sophomore Year

    Schedule:
    • First semester: Honors World History, Honors Biology, Honors Pre-Calculus, Orchestra, Chinese 3
    • Second semester: AP European History, Honors Humanities, AP Calculus AB, Orchestra, Chinese 3
      • Honors World History was linked with AP European History (it was essentially just APEH the entire year, it just went under a different name on my transcript; this goes for the classes below too)
      • Honors Biology was linked with AP Biology (but I dropped AP Biology so I could stay in Orchestra)
      • Honors Pre-Calculus was linked with AP Calculus AB
      • Total APs: 2.5
    Test Scores:
    • PSAT = ~170? (I think? It was definitely not a good score.)
    • AP Calculus AB = 5
    • AP European History = 4
      Tips to doing well academically:
      1. Talk to your counselor about your future classes and college plans. You might not want to talk to your parents about your future plans, but try to keep them updated (even if it seems irrelevant to them or they don't agree with you or you know they'll forget anyway). Chances are, they'll actually appreciate it.
      2. Sophomore year grades are pretty darn important! Work hard to maintain a high grade point average. Don't rely on a weighted GPA--try to get A's in AP classes too!
      3. Take at least one AP class (or self-study). TAKE THE AP TEST!!!!!!!! It's a waste to take an AP class and not take the test as well.
      4. Make sure you're taking at least one English, one science and one math class.
      5. Plan to take the PSAT this year for practice. Try to practice a bit beforehand (google sites or check out some prepbooks).
      6. Attend college fairs and visit local colleges.
      7. Update your personal files: report cards, honors, certificates, employment.
      8. Continue volunteering! Since you'll probably be more busy junior year than sophomore year, take advantage of this easier year and do more extracurricular activities.
      9. Try to achieve leadership positions in your clubs, or at least remain as an active member. You want to show people (colleges) that you're committed to everything you do.
      Tips to doing well socially:
      • Maintain your friendships, and make some more in your new classes! There may be drama, but try to stay out of it. Definitely don't cause any unnecessary drama!
      • Slowly start upgrading your wardrobe; this is a great time to figure out what kind of style suits you best.
      • I'd stay natural with the makeup. Instead, focus on keeping a clear, acne-free face.
      • Now that you probably know the guys at your school better, sophomore year is a pretty good time to start dating. Not that you have to or need to, but if there's a guy you really like... ;) Just don't let it affect your social and academic life!
      • This is a little off-topic, but STAY HEALTHY!! I didn't have anymore PE classes after freshman year, so I gained weight (grrr, stress and snacking) and became really unhealthy. :(
        • Work out and make sure you eat healthy foods! You need to take care of both your mind and your body.
        • Try to get enough sleep. There's a Chinese legend about how one empress was very busy, so she only slept from 11PM to 4AM everyday. Even with only 5 hours of sleep, she was still very energetic and well-rested. Try to sleep by 11PM. If you're not finished with your homework, wake up early to finish it!
Sophomore year was a lot harder than freshman year for me. I went from doing hardly any homework to studying until 11 for AP Bio tests! :'( At the same time, sophomore year also had more interesting classes for me. I learned so much in both Honors Humanities and AP European History! Both classes really opened my eyes. This year really helped me realize that I'm definitely a humanities person.

Do you have any tips for high school sophomores? :) Let us know!

      Back to School: Heatless Waves

Hey everyone! This is my first hair tutorial! I don't curl or straighten my hair because I don't want to damage my hair. So I came up with an easy way to have wavy hair without use heat! This hair style is easy to do & it's great for back to school! You can watch the video here:
      Step by Step Instructions:
      1. Start off with damp hair.
      2. Comb or brush through it so there aren't any tangles.
      3. Put it into a high ponytail. (On top of your head)
      4. Fishtail Braid your ponytail.
      5. If you don't know how to fishtail braid, Split your ponytail in half.
      6. Take 1 section of hair from the left side. Move it to the right.
      7. Then take 1 section of hair from the right side. Move it to the left.
      8. Keep doing this until you are at the bottom, secure with a hair tie.

      9. Put your braid into a bun. & Go to sleep!
      Next Day
      10. Unravel your hair
      11. Your hair will have a lot of volume but it'll go down in 10 minutes.
      12. Scrunch & fix your hair.
      13. OPTIONAL: Use hairspray or clay. I'm using Got 2b Sculpting Paste.
      14. Scrunch your hair some more.
      15. You're done!

I hope you try this hairstyle out! And if you do, send us pictures @neonrouge37 on twitter or email us at neonrouge37@gmail.com !

BACK TO SCHOOL: 9th Grade / Freshman Year

      My own schedule:
      • First semester: ENS 3-4 (A/A), Honors English (A/A), Geometry (A/A), Orchestra (A/A), Chinese 2 (A/A)
      • Second semester: Algebra 3-4 (A/A), ENS 1-2 (A/A), Internet Publishing (A/A), Orchestra (A/A), Chinese 2 (A/A)
        • ENS = PE
        • 1-2 = Level 1; 3-4 = Level 2; so on.
      Tips to doing well academically:
      • Maintain a "B" or better grade point average. (No APs, keep A-average)
      • Form study groups and make friends with people who also plan to go to college.
      • Attend a college fair. Start gathering information and getting an idea of what kind of college you want to go to.
      • Start volunteering.
      • Join clubs! It's a time for you to explore. You don't have to stay in them, join a lot and them choose the ones you like the best.
      • Stay on track with homework assignments by writing in a planner. Keep all your work together/find a way to organize things so you don't lose your work and end up turning it in late.
      • Create a personal file: report cards, certificates, honors, employment.
      • Have fun, try new things but don't slack off! :) You want to make good habits now.
      Tips to doing well socially:
      • Be yourself. You will find other people who like you for you.
      • Make friends in the grades above you because they can help you.
      • Make friends in your clubs/workplaces/band+orchestra/sports teams/etc.
      • Don't go too heavy with makeup! Your max should be: mascara, brown eyeliner and chapstick or lipgloss.
      • Dress in what makes you feel most comfortable and confident. :)
      • Be nice to everyone. Try not to get a boyfriend freshman year because you should focus more on making friends and getting adjusted to high school.
Freshman year was one of my favorite years (if not, my favorite) of high school. Don't waste it because you'll find the years passing by faster and faster.

Do you have any tips for high school froshies? :) Let us know!

Nail of the Day: Zoya Charla

Hey everyone! This is my first nail of the day post, but there'll be more to come soon!

Today's Nail of the Day is Charla by Zoya. This nail color is really pretty, and even though it looks turquoise, there are green reflects. It's super sparkly and when I remove it, there's sparkle residue left on my nail that I can't really remove with nail polish remover.

I used two coats of this polish and I took these pictures using natural lighting.

So do you like this nail polish? What's your favorite from Zoya?
